Briton Ferry Llansawel 2 Newtown 1

ANOTHER defeat and another red card for Newtown left fans in doubt about the scale of the challenge facing new coach Callum McKenzie as the Robins crashed to another defeat on Wednesday night.

Ryan Pryce became the latest Newtown player to earn his marching orders before the hosts completed a late comeback with Jasper Payne scrambling home 17 minutes into injury time after a fateful fumble by young goalkeeper Sam Ussher.

Jaime Rickard dragged wide from 20 yards as Ferry forced the first opening.

OTHER NEWS:

Newtown should have led when Zeli Ismael's low right wing cross picked out Aaron Williams who contrived to fluff his lines from five yards and allow goalkeeper Will Fuller to save.

Ricky Lee-Owen was stretchered off following a head injury on the hour and lead to 17 minutes of injury-time.

There was little for either set of supporter to get excited about until 20 minutes from time when Williams atoned for his earlier miss by heading home Ismael's right wing free-kick on the far post.

Ferry hit back eight minutes later as Corey Hurford was released down the left by Rickard to slot under Ussher.

Newtown found themselves under the cosh with Hurford causing all kinds of problems down the left with a deflected shot dipping onto the bar before Tom Price headed onto the post from a right wing corner.

A foolish challenge by Ryan Pryce on Hurford saw Newtown reduced to 10 men.

Newtown tasted late agony when Hurford managed to keep alive Alex Gammond's deep right wing cross which Ussher fumbled and Jasper Payne capitalised by scrambling home.
