SCOTT Ruscoe's tenure at the helm of JD Cymru Premier side Newtown has come to an end.

The former TNS boss has endured a tough 10 months at the helm since taking over from the long-serving Chris Hughes with the Robins out of the major cups and struggling in the league.

Newtown are ninth in the Cymru Premier following last week's goalless draw with Bala Town.

However, the Welsh Cup defeat at Llanuwchllyn last month has since seen pressure mount with Newtown fans unconvinced the former Latham Park favourite during his playing career was the right man for the job.

OTHER NEWS:

Ruscoe returned to Welsh football in January after a spell at the helm of Port Vale Under 18s team having joined the Stoke club after his sacking as TNS manager in 2021.

During his 11-month reign in charge of Newtown, he oversaw 28 matches with a record of eight wins, six draws and 14 defeats.

A club statement read: “Newtown AFC can confirm that first team manager Scott Ruscoe has left the club, with immediate effect.

“We would like to thank Scott for all of his hard work and dedication during his time with our club, and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Callum McKenzie will take charge of first team affairs in the interim as the club begins its search for a successor.
