CALLS for Radnorshire to have its own up to date hockey facility have continued to grow this week.
Radnor beat Presteigne 3-0 in division one of the South Wales Women’s League in Llandrindod Wells on Saturday.
Both clubs represent central Powys in the southern women’s league while local rivals Kington also cross the border and compete in the South Wales Premier League using Llandrindod Wells Leisure Centre as base.

Northern Powys towns can now boast state of the art facilities hockey facilities with Newtown and Llanidloes each having modern pitches despite having no senior club with Llanfyllin also the home to a 3G pitch.
Llanfair Caereinion Leisure Centre has also installed a new all-weather surface in recent years.
In comparison, Radnorshire sports facilities remain massively underfunded with growing calls on sporting bodies to invest in Llandrindod Wells Leisure Centre.
Radnor Hockey Club spokesperson Lowri Price said investment in maintaining the current facility and improvements to the playing surface were vital for the sport to continue to thrive.
She said: “Radnor have had a fantastic start to the season in division one of the South Wales League.
“Last weekend's 3-0 victory over Presteigne gave the club further encouragement for the forthcoming hockey games and together with Presteigne and neighbouring club Kington who are currently playing in the second division of the premier league shows the strength in hockey across rural mid Wales.
“It’s vitally important for rural sport and especially critical that we retain our artificial pitches to ensure hockey continues to thrive across Radnorshire and Powys.”
