JOE Davies is this year’s Lakeside Golf Club champion after prevailing over two days of action at the Garthmyl course.

The championship was played over the weekend of August 17-18th with a total of 38 players entering the opening day of action.

The weather stayed dry for both days and the course was in absolutely magnificent condition. The greens were fast and pin positions were in tough but not impossible positions.

Those who qualified for day two enjoyed a delicious roast dinner provided by the proprietors Phil, Daphne and Amanda.

In a change to the normal, the day two groups were mainly sent out in fourballs, with the leading four players from day one all going out together.

Despite the best efforts of Tony Meredith, Brendan Weaver and Alan Davies, Joe Davies prevailed with two very consistent rounds of 73 and 74 to won by a clear three shots while Blake Price was the nett club champion with Di Pugh nearest the pin and Paul Morgan registering the longest drive.
