THE Jones family has put Newtown back on the Welsh boxing map.

Coach Joe Evans shared his joy after several members returned home from the Welsh National Championship with medals - including the first gold in more than 20 years.

Chris Jones, father of two talented young boxers, has been a pivotal figure helping Newtown ABC boxer and coach Joe Evans win his third silver medal and his two sons Jed and Ruben win gold and silver respectively. 

Leading the charge in the competition was head coach and boxer Joe Evans, who displayed exceptional skill by winning three consecutive bouts with style.

The Jones brothers have continued the clubs impressive ascent.

Youngest brother Ruben, just 11 years old, reached the final in the 30-32kg schoolboy category and despite a valiant effort had to be content with a silver medal.

Tyler Jed Jones, competing in the 48-50kg category, was simply unstoppable. 
His performances earned him a gold medal and a coveted spot in the Welsh squad for British 3 Nations Cup.

Evans said: “These achievements have put Newtown ABC back on the map, with huge credit going to the Jones family for their dedication and hard work. The future looks bright and we eagerly anticipate their continued success.”
