RYAN Sears played a key role as Wales celebrated a battling 1-0 win over England in Llanelli on Tuesday night.
Sion Bradley’s strike sealed victory for Wales as Newtown star Sears played the full 90 minutes on a famous night as the Dragons toasted C international glory.
Sears helped Wales to victory after testing build-up which saw TNS duo Connor Roberts and Danny Davies both withdraw to focus on their club’s cup final in Scotland this weekend.
Wales still proved just too strong for the English.

Wales manager Mark Jones said: “I’ve been involved in this game about six or seven times now. We had a brilliant performance up in Caernarfon, and it’s a strange thing to say, but I think we worked even harder tonight.
“We worked our socks off. We talk about individual battles. If you win eleven individual battles on the field, you’re going to win, and that’s what happened. We had a little bit of magic from Bradley, great saves from Absalom, Wales beat England, and we’re happy as Larry.
“Whenever you’re managing Wales, it’s always a pleasure and an honour. This win is definitely up there in my time managing this team, and I’m so happy for all my boys.”
Newtown Football Club star Sears was congratulated by friends and family after the match as the former Shrewsbury Town defender underlined his class.
Club spokesman Barry Gardner said: “It was great for Ryan to be selected for the Wales C squad for the second consecutive year and again to make the starting XI
“Ryan has had a good season at the club and deserves his place and it’s pleasing to see his own performance as well as the team winning by a great free kick. This really shows the standard that’s on our doorstep and we need Ryan to take that form into the European playoffs.”
