SEVERAL football clubs have signalled their ambitions by applying for promotion.
Llansantffraid and Llanrhaeadr have each applied to make the step up from the Ardal North East League to JD Cymru North along with Bow Street, Cefn Albion, Llanuwchllyn, Penrhyncoch and Radnor Valley.
The applications were revealed as part of the Football Association promotion applicants with the deadline for applying for a license passed on New Year.
Llanrhaeadr are no strangers to the second tier having previously competed in JD Cymru North and are managed by Mike Barton who has vast experience in Welsh football.
A club spokesman said: “We as a club are always looking to improve ourselves.

“We want to test ourselves with regard to the requirements and see what we need to do.
“It was only two years ago that we attained the tier two license last. We are realistic in terms of getting promotion this season but we are seeing this as a stepping stone to future progress.”
Llansantffraid have never competed in the second tier having only made the step up to the third tier this season.
However the club’s Treflan ground s among the best stadiums outside the top flight in all of Wales and even superior to some current stadia and would likely surpass ground criteria for the second tier.
Meanwhile Radnor Valley have also applied.
A club spokesman said: “At the start of the season when we entered this league I don’t think anyone would be thinking we would be competing this end of the table.
“We took the decision with the committee to see if we are still in this position in a couple of months time that we would entertain promotion to the JD Cymru North.
“There would have to be work done to the ground for second successive season but we did it last year and we could do it again this season, our local community is fantastic helping us achieve where we are at present.
“So we can allow ourselves to dream a little, however reality is we need to ensure we are up there come the end of the season.”
