SEVERAL mid Wales football clubs have signalled their ambitions by applying for promotion to the Ardal leagues next season.

MMP Central Wales League North leaders Kerry are joined by Four Crosses, Machynlleth and Rhayader Town in applying for promotion.

Kerry manager Ben Davies said: “The aim this season has always been promotion and we’re hopeful that our pitch and facilities meet the criteria required for tier three.

“Having played at tier three only two seasons ago the basis for most requirements should still be in place and we’re prepared for any additional work needed.”

Meanwhile Four Crosses have targeted a return to the Ardal North East League.

OTHER NEWS:

A club spokesman said: “Four Crosses Football Club had a ground criteria inspection for progression to tier three and the inspection all went as expected with all the hard work that’s been done.

“The management and committee feel we are in a good position to progress with the current squad and look forward to the remaining games to establish our final position within the current league.”

Rhayader Town have also signalled their intention.

County Times:

Chairman Rhys Thomas said: This last summer was difficult, but it gave us as a club a chance to reset.

“Wanting to attract players who want to play for the town and not those chasing money. As a committee we have hopefully come out of the other end and it is important as a club we aspire to improve.

“We want our local team to be in the highest league they can be and without an option to progress the club will become stagnant.

“In terms of criteria, we believe we still have the best facilities in the league we are in and from our time in higher tiers we had one of the best set-ups in those leagues.

“So we are looking forward to the green light to progress back to where we belong, as a stronger more financially and stable club.”
