Barry Town United 4 Newtown 0
NEWTOWN endured a miserable weekend to forget as relegation battling Barry Town United left the Robins red faced at Jenner Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Robins made the long trip to the South Wales coast desperate to kickstart their JD Cymru Premier campaign following a frustrating festive period with defeats against Bala Town and Connah’s Quay Nomads realistically ending any lingering hopes of a top two finish behind champions-elect TNS this season.
Newtown struggled from the opening whistle with Ollie Hulbert denied one on one by visiting goalkeeper Andy Wycherley during the opening few minutes.
The same player broke Newtown's offside trap only to lash wide before Barry led with Ben Blythe steering home Rhys Davies; low left wing after 21 minutes.

A moment of madness from Wycherley saw his weak pass contrived to be fired over an open goal by Jamie Veale as Newtown survived a scare.
However, it was only a matter of time before the dominant hosts doubled their lead.
Newtown were left with a mountain to climb when Veale's right wing corner was headed home by Blythe just before the break.
Newtown continued to struggle to defend set-pieces with another corner from Veale on the hour headed home by Sam Snaith.
