LUKE Boundford starred with two goals as Presteigne St Andrews prevailed 3-2 winners at home to Barmouth United in the first round of the MMP Central Wales League Cup today.
The former Newtown forward opened the scoring inside the opening two minutes before completing his tally from the penalty spot midway through the first-half with Ossian Owen dismissed for the visitors.
Jack Weston extended Presteigne's lead after the break before United rallied in vain with goals from Leo Green and Ryan Jones.
Carno and Waterloo Rovers battled out a 2-2 draw before the Greens booked their second round ticket with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win.
The hosts led at the break with goals from Geraint Jones and Sean Wild before Rovers hit back after the break with two penalties from Tom Ellis.
Henry Watkins spurned the decisive penalty in the resulting shoot-out as Carno celebrated a hard-fought cup win.

Four Crosses strolled to a 6-0 victory at Llanfyllin Town with goals from Max Thomas, Jordan Dean, Will Howard, Tom Kilvert, John Lloyd and a Sean Jones own goal completing the tally.
Rob Evans netted two goals as Forden United sealed a 3-0 victory at Machynlleth with Jake O'Donnell completing the scoring.
Dewi Hughes proved Berriew's last action hero with two late goals completing a 2-1 win at Tywyn Bryncrug who led through Joe Soar.

Montgomery Town celebrated a 4-2 victory at Dyffryn Banw in the MMP Central Wales League North.
Tom Halliday and Tom Evans shared the plaudits with each netting twice while Joe Evans and Rowan Chapman replied for the hosts.
Kerry remain top of the table following a 3-1 victory at home to Meifod with Richard Davies leading the scoring with two goals and Luke Mumford completing the Lambs' scoring while Alun Hughes reduced the arrears.
