HAY St Mary's ended second best in a thrilling 5-3 defeat at home to Tredegar Town in the first round of the Ardal South League Cup on Friday night.
Callum Maddy's opener for the hosts was cancelled out by James Price before Jack Biggs restored Hay's advantage before the break.
Tredegar hit back to lead with two goals in as many minutes as Jack Jones and Jack Doolan struck before Luke Morgan and Owen Thomas goals ensured a late goal from Jake Cleeves was consolation.

Brecon Corries bowed out of the cup at the first hurdle with a 3-1 defeat at Mumbles Rangers.
The home side led with two goals from Kyle Copp before the Corries were reduced to nine men in a minute as Joel Evans and Nathan Williams each saw red.
Despite their numerical disadvantage the Powys side reduced the arrears with 10 minutes remaining with Craig Evans on target only for Sam Evans to settle the outcome for Mumbles late on.
