The Red Kites raced ahead with Ryan Addison, Kai Evans and Jack Clarke goals giving them a three goal interval lead.
However the Turfs hit back after the break with Ryan Davies netting twice and goals from Liam Jones and Josh Davies before Rhayader mustered a late equaliser through Keegan Bradley.
Machynlleth battled to a 2-1 win at Knighton Town with goals from Dylan Owen and Callum Page while Sam Hoyle reduced the arrears for the hosts.
A solitary strike from Luke Boundford was enough for Presteigne St Andrews to claim the spoils in 1-0 win at home to Penybont United.
