TRIBUTES have been paid to one of Kerry Football Club's all time legends.
Maurice Lane passed away today following a lifetime association with the Dolforgan Park club.
A club statement reads: "It is with great sadness that Kerry Football Club announce the passing of club legend Mo Lane.
"We have lost a true gentleman, mentor, coach and above all else a great friend.
"Mo has played a part in so many lives over the years and his dedication to football goes beyond words.
"Everyone at Kerry Football Club send their condolences to Pam and the family. Mo was a Lamb through and through and will be sorely missed."
Long time friend and fellow clubman Joe Andrew led the tributes.
He said: "Kerry Football Club has lost one its greatest clubman today. Mo passed away this afternoon after a long illness. Our thoughts are with Pam and family at these sad times. We were privileged to have you at the club, not only as a coach but as a friend to us all."
A statement from local rivals Abermule Football Club reads: "We all send our condolences to the family and friends of Mo Lane, a huge part of our dingle neighbours . A true character with a passion for grass roots football which is rarely seen. May you rest in peace."
Football Association of Wales councillor Graham Evans said: "Condolences to his family, friends and all at Kerry Football Club. What a loveable man and gave so much to mid Wales football. Rest easy, Mo."
Caersws Football Club's Gareth Jones added: "A true gentleman and an incredible servant to football in mid Wales and beyond over the decades. There’s only one Mo Lane."
