ASPIRING football coaches from across Powys and mid Wales will be given a once in a lifetime opportunity to coach in New York at an event in Welshpool next month.
Maesydre, home of Ardal North East League club Welshpool Town, is among the stops for New York based Beestera Soccer Training which also includes the Etihad Stadium, home of English Premier League champions Manchester City.
On Saturday, December 2nd from 10am-2pm the recruitment camp will arrive in Welshpool with the prize of a summer spent coaching in New York.
The tour is being led by Newtown’s Kurtis Smith, a former Newtown Football Club academy player who also represented Abermule, Kerry and Churchstoke in the Mid Wales League and Montgomeryshire League.

Maesydre, home of Welshpool Town.
Kurtis began his coaching journey while a student at Coleg Powys from 2010 to 2012 with his first coaching roles at Newtown Football Club’s academy before studying Football and Sports Coaching and Performance at the University of South Wales from 2012 to 2015.
Kurtis moved to the USA and continued to coach and is currently Director of Club Development at Beestera Soccer Training, a coaching company based in Albany, New York, specialising in team coaching, private training and camps which is affiliated with NIKE Sports Camps.
Kurtis is also a coach of two women’s sides at Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy and the Women’s Premier Soccer League Team known as the New York Shockers in Albany.
Kurtis said: “As part of our UK tour, which also includes a recruitment event at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, we are actively seeking young, aspiring coaches interested in joining us in New York to work on our soccer camps in the summer of 2024. Welshpool has been included as one of our stops on this journey.
“This event is being organized in collaboration with Newtown College and is open to any individuals aged 18 or older by June 2024, regardless of their background or affiliation."
