ADELE Nicoll continued her fledgling bobsleigh career last weekend in the second round of the Europa Cup in Altenburg in Germany.

A small mistake in one corner in heat one resulted in a crash on one of the toughest tracks in the world meant the Welshpool star needed to be assessed by the medical team before being cleared to compete in the second heat.

Nicoll said: “If I’m being honest I’ve probably never been more nervous in my life. I’ve only been driving for five weeks so it was was a tough mental challenge. But I did and I did it well.”

“The same boiling water that softens the potato, hardens the egg. It’s what your made of that determines your response to the circumstances.

“It wouldn’t be realistic if I only posted about my wins. This is the reality of bobsleigh.”

The Welshpool ace has enjoyed a solid start to her career as a bob-sleigher having originally been part of the Great Britain squad for last year’s Winter Olympics before representing Wales in the shot put in the summer Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Nicoll ended her debut race in Lillehammer in Norway with a combined time of 52.09, just over half a second behind winner Margot Boch, to seal sixth place.

Nicoll is sponsored by JD Cymru Premier champions TNS Football Club.
