ADELE Nicoll and Dan Jones both secured their progress to the latter rounds of their competitions at the Commonwealth Games this afternoon.
The former Welshpool High School pair are representing Wales in the women's shot put and 50m men's freestyle.
Nicoll threw a distance of 17.30m to ensure her place in the final with the third furthest effort of qualifying.
Nicoll said: "I told everyone before I came here I was going to get into the shape of my life and that is where I’m at, that was an easy throw, it lays down the marker for tomorrow, I’ve got so much more to give. It’s so exciting, the crowd were amazing, I’m going to take the energy from that and all the Welsh flags I could see."
Meanwhile Jones Dan Jones is into the semi-finals of the men's 50m freestyle after qualifying with the 10th fastest time of 22.65.
