NEWTOWN Cricket Club’s newly formed under 18s side are the SCB competition champions after beating Wolverhampton and Codsall last weekend.
The Powys side restricted Wolves to 87 with Cai Van Lill (3-15) and Finlay Bellamore (3-4) leading the wickets before Town eased to 89-1 in reply with Griff Davies (45no) starring.
Newtown posted 157-3 in their next game against Codsall with Bellamore (50) and Reino De Klerk (34no) leading the way.
Codsall fell for 100 in reply as Jonathon Davies’ young charges toasted glory.

Davies said: “Like finals day last year, the boys were switched on. They took some great catches and made it look easy. They are a credit to the club.”
Meanwhile the club has invited the community to attend its Presidents Day on Saturday.
The late Joe Davies will be remembered at Newtown Cricket Club this weekend.
The event will mark the 10th anniversary of the sad passing of clubman Joe Davies whose family have invited the town to the ground to celebrate the popular player’s life.
There will be a bounce castle, face painting along with food and drink.
