NEWTOWN Football Club will be offering affordable football to fans this weekend.

The club’s popular ‘Football for a Fiver’ scheme offered fans some relief from the cost of living crisis last season with the JD Cymru Premier club admitting adults for just £5.

The cost of living crisis has continued and shows no signs of abating in 2023.

The club has launched the popular scheme once more with new chairman Nick Evans hopeful it will provide some relief to locals struggling with bills.

OTHER NEWS:

He said: “We deliberated over the admission price. Our thought process was the cost of living is still going up while interest rates, mortgage rates and inflation are still going up.

“Something has to give, so we decided admission costs should go down. Hopefully fans can still afford to attend.”

County Times:

Newtown already offer the cheapest matchday admission and season ticket prices in the league and been the most pro-active of JD Cymru Premier clubs in attempting to reduce costs passed down supporters with a number of schemes over the years.

Several years ago the club made international headlines as the first club to launch a fully reversible kit which remains a collectors’ classic to this day and popular among kit afficionados.

However, the club continues to struggle to increase attendance figures despite being Powys’ most successful club and sole top flight representatives with the 12 club, mid-season split format remaining unpopular among supporters as much as groundhoppers across the region.
