A HOST of the leading athletes in Powys enjoyed stellar weekends and returned home with their reputations further enhanced and medals to add to their collection.
The Newtown-based Maldwyn Harriers Athletics Club was represented at the Welsh Senior and U15s Championship in Cardiff.
Sprinter Max Evans doubled up in the 100m and 200m, winning the U15 100m in a time of 11.15s, his time placed him provisionally second in the UK rankings for 2023 so far.
Max followed this up with 22.58s in the 200m, sealing a strong first place finish in an event where he currently sits third in the UK for his age group.

Maddie Hughes in action.
Maddie Hughes came fourth in the U15 girls 3,000m, just missing out on a medal with a new PB of 10:35 while Olivia Morgan set a new PB of 2:36 in the 800m.
Maddie Griffiths and McKenzie McCourt were in action this weekend competing for North Wales in the British Inter Counties Fell Race at Hope Bowdler, Church Stretton.

Club coach Sharon Jones said: "Both girls are very dedicated to their training, achieving impressive results in a top class field at the weekend and both very accomplished fell and mountain runners.
"They are fantastic role models for the youngsters at Maldwyn Harriers."

The club was also represented in the primary school event with Llion Freeman ending 11th in the U9s boys race and Rhydian Morgan ending 22nd in the U11s boys race.
