NEWTOWN Cricket Club has honoured its stars of the season at its annual awards.
The club’s first team ended third in the Henshalls Shropshire League with the seconds ending sixth in division five.
Tom Anderson was named first team player of the year as well as club bowler and batsman.

Craig Davies went home with the first team bowler of the year cup with Sam Cooke the first team batsman.
Adam Knight was second team plater of the year with Matt Knight the second team batsman and Brandon Baynham the second team bowler
The fielder of the year award was shared between Joe Monk and David Anthony while Paul Hawthorn was named clubman of the year.

Meanwhile the future of the club looks bright after the under-15s impressed at the Shropshire Finals Day after winning their regional league.
Town batted first against hosts Oswestry and posted 102-7 with Sam Cadwallader (42), Rhys Jones (19) and Griff Davies (10) the top performers.
In reply Oswestry posted 166-3 which included a wonderful quick fire 50 from 27 balls from Harry Darley.
Dan Cadwallader (2-37) and Griff Davies (1-22) claimed the wickets.
With Oswestry 64 ahead after the first innings, the Welsh side restricted the hosts to 89-6 in the second with Griff Davies (3-10) supported by Cai Van Lill (1-6).
Needing 154 to win, Sam Cadwallader and Iwan Smout started well.
Davies and Cadwallader put the hosts under pressure for a while before the latter was run for 25.

Davies (47) continued to pile on the runs, falling short of his 50 with two balls of the game left and Newtown ultimately falling 36 runs short of Oswestry’s total.
A club spokesman said: “We are extremely proud of what these lads have achieved. Most will have another two seasons competing at under-15 level, so to be competing with Oswestry shows how well the lads have down this season.”
