BUILTH Wells Football Club has announced the departure of first team manager Scott Russell.
Russell, who operated as joint manager of the Bulls alongside the experienced Jason Samuel, announced to the first team squad last Tuesday that he was stepping down, saying he felt it was best decision for the Lant Field club.
The Ardal North East League club confirmed the news via social media on Friday (September 1).
“Scott Russell has decided to resign from his position with the first team,” the club announced on Twitter.

“Scott leaves after enjoying a tremendous first season at the club in what is a very competitive and strong tier three North East League.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Scott for all his hard work and dedication and professionalism over the course of last season and leading us into this forthcoming campaign and (he) helped shape the team and club at tier 3 level.”
The club will press forward with Samuel, the former Builth, Newbridge and Knighton Town defender, in sole charge.
Russell departs the Lant Field following a superb debut campaign in the Ardal North East League, in which the Bulls finished 8th of 15 teams following promotion.
So far in the 2023/24 campaign, they have won two, lost two and drawn once in 5 league games, and currently sit 9th.
Russell moved to the Lant Field last summer from Monmouth Town, bringing coach Dan Chance with him. Chance will remain in post in Builth, while fellow ex-Kingfishers coach Scott Davies – a Builth boy who formerly managed neighbours Newbridge – stepped away from his role earlier this summer.
The Bulls host Penycae in the Ardal North League Cup this Saturday, September 9, kick-off is 2.30pm.
