MAGISTRATES have issued an arrest warrant for a Powys man after he failed to show up to court.
Dean Murphy, 36, had been due to appear at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 12, to be sentenced for assaulting a police officer, as well as a member of the public, in Newtown on November 10.
Murphy, of no fixed abode but who is believed to live in the Heyope area, near Knighton, admitted two separate assaults on PC Harley in Newtown when he appeared at court on November 11.
He also admitted assaulting Sam Richards on the same date, with the case adjourned on the last occasion for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
The court was told on Tuesday that the defendant was unable to make it to court as he was ill, with a note sent to the court in relation to him having been deemed unfit to attend work.
Prosecutor Helen Tench asked the bench for a warrant without bail to be issued, which the magistrates granted.
