A COURT hearing to determine how much a Powys man who claimed to be the biggest drug dealer in Brecon must repay will take place in the New Year.

Cole Williams, 22, was scheduled to attend a mention hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Monday, December 2, in relation to a proceeds of crime case against him – but Judge Jeremy Jenkins was told the defendant refused to attend.

Williams, of Brynawelon, Trecastle, near Brecon, was jailed for just under four years in June of this year for multiple offences related to dealing cocaine.

He had been due to appear at Merthyr on Monday in relation to the proceeds of crime case – to figure out how much of what he earned dealing drugs he will have to hand over.

Prosecutor Regan Walters said further directions need to be made regarding the amount of money Williams would have to pay back.

Nicholas Gedge, representing Williams, said the issue in the case is how much he owes.

“The figure is not disputed, but the prosecution say it’s £2,500, while the defence position is that £655 of that belongs to his mother,” said Mr Gedge.

Judge Jenkins scheduled a proceeds of crime hearing to be held at Merthyr on January 24, 2025.

Brecon’s biggest drug dealer

At his sentencing hearing in June, the court heard Williams referred to himself as the “main drug dealer in Brecon”.

Williams had entered guilty pleas to being concerned in supplying a Class A drug and possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply between March 23, 2023, and April 12, 2024.

He also admitted possessing a controlled drug of Class B on April 11 this year. Charges of driving with no insurance and no licence were also admitted.

Williams first came to the attention of police in March, 2023, when he was stopped in a vehicle; with cash, cocaine and cannabis found on him, with more cash found at his home.

In July of 2023, Williams crashed his Ford Fiesta near Sennybridge. Police later returned to the scene and found various bags and packages containing 4.17g, 12g, 22.8g and 2.66g of cocaine, as well as 1.4g of cannabis and £310 cash.

When the car was searched at a later date another £1,010 cash was found, as well as a weighing scales.

Williams was also stopped driving a black BMW in April this year, during which 7g of cocaine, worth around £500, was found in his underwear.

Judge Eugene Egan jailed Williams for 3 years and 9 months for the supply charges.
