Powys will join communities across the UK in hosting a 'Together at Christmas' Community Carol Service this December, inspired by the Princess of Wales' (Kate Middleton) service of the same name at Westminster Abbey.
The Westminster Abbey service, which will be televised on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve, is described by a Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales representative as "honour[ing] individuals and organisations across the UK that have demonstrated love, kindness, and empathy," and Powys' service will reflect the same theme.
Powys' service will take place at Brecon Cathedral on Tuesday, December 3, at 6pm.
The event will include music by the RFCA Prince of Wales Band and Brecon’s Cathedral Choir, and the service will include both Welsh and English carols and readings.
Fifteen regional Community Carol Services are to take place across the UK, according to a Royal Foundation spokesperson.
Amanda Berry, CEO of The Royal Foundation, added: "I am delighted that the Royal Foundation is supporting 15 fantastic community carol services, bringing the spirit of 'Together at Christmas' to every corner of the UK this festive season.
"These events create special moments that unite communities and recognise those who have shown exceptional compassion.
"Their selfless dedication to others has not gone unnoticed, and we are proud to honour them in this way."
The Community Carol Services are supported by The Co-operative Group – which is providing hot and cold drinks, and treats - and Hobbycraft, which is gifting craft sets to children attending the Services, as well as Christmas decorations.
