A birthday party held at in Welshpool was able to raise £900 for a Powys service to help visually impaired people.
Sue Ben Jones recently celebrated her 80th Birthday with a party at the Royal Oak Hotel, Welshpool, asking people who attended to give a donation to the Powys Talking Newspaper.
The gesture managed to raise £900 for the service, which was handed over to the talking newspaper team on Sunday, November 24.

Powys Talking Newspaper chairman Roger Eagles said: ‘We are a charity organisation which exists through donations such as this and we are extremely grateful to Sue for raising this magnificent amount.”
Anyone who is visually impaired and would like to receive the Powys Talking Newspaper on a weekly basis as a free service is encouraged to contact the Secretary, Alison, either by calling 07974 094571 or emailing powystn@gmail.com who will take details and send you an application form.
