A Powys woman is preparing to row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Nia Baylis, originally from Machynlleth but now living in Aberdyfi, will take on the challenge alongside rowing partner Pammie Tyson, who will be rowing for Antigua.

The pair will be rowing from San Sebastián de la Gomera, in the Canary Islands, to Antigua in the Caribbean, a distance of approximately 3,000 miles.

The challenge, formerly known as the Talisker Whiskey Challenge, is now called the World's Toughest Row.

The pair will be raising money for Kidney Wales and two marine conservation charities.

Dwyfor Meirionnydd Member of Parliament, Liz Saville Roberts, recently met with the pair.

Ms Saville Roberts said: "Nia and Pammie have my greatest respect for embarking on this epic feat.
