Police have issued a warning to avoid the A40 in Powys due to “extremely poor” conditions from Storm Bert.
Dyfed-Powys Police have advised drivers to avoid the A40 near Brecon this morning (November 24) due to dangerous driving conditions.
The section of road from Sennybridge to Brecon was closed in the early hours of this morning due to a fallen tree leading local officers to advise the public to “avoid the area and find alternative routes for your journey”.

This comes after a rapid melting of snow and heavy rainfall from Storm Bert which has seen river levels rise over the course of the last 24 hours – with multiple flood warnings in force in Powys.
This morning, conditions on the A40 have now led police to issue a warning for drivers to avoid the road.
In a update online, a spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Road conditions are extremely poor across the A40 (Brecon to Sennybridge) due to Surface water.”
Police have advised that drivers “only travel if your journey is necessary”.
If drivers have to make the journey Dyfed-Powys Police advise you “plan extra time for your journey”, to “increase your distances” and to “slow down”.
