Rattus understands that PCC is probably closing leisure centres in Llanfyllin, Llanfair Caereinion, Presteigne, Builth Wells and Rhayader.
This at the same time as, using Levelling Up money, they are opening the canal from Llanymynech so a few canal boats can go to Arddleen.
The two bridges required will cost millions.
The boats will probably be restricted to a 250 movements a year because the Montgomery Canal is an Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and canal boats stir up the mud and damage the unique water plants.

The children of the towns without leisure centres will be encouraged to swim in the Montgomery Canal.
They will need wetsuits but because these will be cleared of wildlife they can now swim from Llanymynech to Arddlleen without getting out of the water.
This is progress.
Where they will learn to swim in the first place is not clear.
Leisure centres are not green, they consume a lot of energy and are expensive to run but they are brilliant for teaching children to swim.
