Amazingly Dougie managed to get dozens of his other pupils involved in just two days after deciding to go ahead with it on Sunday lunchtime – organising on Sunday evening and asking for permission from the Head teacher yesterday before marching today.

Dougie’s mum Lorraine said: “It was a great turnout with 40 children plus parents.

“Presteigne primary school were very supportive and took his request on board for the pupils to be able to wear wellies today.”

Farmers from across the country, including many from Powys have been down in London today to protest the proposed introduction of inheritance tax on farms valued at £1million or more.

The Met Police estimated more than 10,000 people had joined the rally in central London shortly before midday – with “more arriving”.

Some farmers have warned they will have to sell off land to meet the costs and are threatening to strike over the pressures they say they are being put under by Government policy, while there are warnings over people’s mental health.
