A huge diversion is looming for some Powys motorists as a stretch of road faces closure for works to help reduce landslides.
Works to make a stretch of the A40 at Halfway, on the Powys-Carmarthenshire border, that aims to make the road less susceptible to landslides will leave the road closed over the weekend.
A full weekend closure in both directions on the A40 Halfway, east of Llandovery will be in place on November 23 and November 24.

The soil stabilisation works will mean traffic being re-routed via Builth Wells and Brecon, with the alternative route for eastbound through traffic will be via the northeast bound A483 to Builth Wells and southeast bound A470 to Brecon, re-joining the A40 at the Brynich roundabout, just outside Brecon.
The scheme involves tree clearance, and stabilising the slope next to the westbound A40 road, which is experiencing small landslides that could be dangerous for drivers.
The works also require a 24-hour weekday lane closure with traffic lights and 40mph speed restriction for the duration of this scheme, which began on Saturday, October 12, and is scheduled to end on May 6 next year.
