Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were charged with dangerous driving after a fatal crash near Welshpool.

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed two men will appearing in court this morning (November 18) after a fatal crash on the A483 this weekend which saw one person lose their life.

Police confirmed that Abubakr Ben Yusaf, 29 and Umar Ben Yusaf, 33, have both been charged and will be in court this morning after being arrested on Saturday evening.

Three cars - a red BMW X3, blue Audi S4, and white Toyota Yaris – collided on the A483 in Belan at around 6.15pm.

The driver of the white Toyota Yaris, who was travelling southbound, died at the scene.

A child passenger in the same car was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Polcie said: “Abubakr Ben Yusaf, aged 29, has been charged with drug driving, causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

“Umar Ben Yusaf, aged 33, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.”

Police have urged anyone who may have any further information about the incident to come forward.

The spokesperson added: “Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that could help with the investigation, including anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage, is asked to report it to us, either online at: https://bit.ly/DPPContactOnline, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.
