SENTENCING in the case of a motorist who admits driving with both cocaine and cannabis in his system has been delayed.
Carl Emberton, 46, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court this week, but was told his case could not proceed to sentence.
Emberton, of no fixed abode, previously admitted two offences of drug driving, at court in October.
The offences took place on May 16 this year, when Emberton was stopped on the A489 near Churchstoke, driving a white Ford Transit van.

A roadside drug swipe proved positive and Emberton was found to have 3.5 micrograms of cannabis in his system – the legal limit is 2 micrograms.
He also had 56 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine (BZE, a cocaine compound) in his system – the legal limit is 50mcgs.
Rob Hanratty, representing him, said: “This is an application for further testing, as some issues have been raised with the forensic provider and one of these samples needs to be re-tested.”
Magistrates agreed to adjourn the case for six weeks. Emberton will return to court for sentencing on January 7, 2025. In the meantime, magistrates ordered an interim driving disqualification.
