Powys campsites have been recognised among the best in the country in a recent set of awards.
Several Powys campsites were recognised in this year’s Campsites.co.uk Camping and Glamping Awards.
The star of the night was Cwmdu Campsite in Crickhowell which was named the Best Campsite in Mid Wales.
Judges praised the campsite for “its brilliant Brecon Beacons location, onsite food trucks, fantastic facilities and 96 per cent of guests recommending them- they really stood out to us.”
The site is run by Sarah Farr, partner Calvin Clark, and a team of four wardens: Nienke, Chris, Sarah and Mike.

On their win Sarah said: “Our campsite has been in our family since the late 1950s. It opened in 1964 and was run by my grandparents with just a few caravans, it has now grown to over 100 pitches. I love running the campsite with my fiancé and meeting guests from all over the UK and the World.
“We feel incredibly lucky to work in such a picturesque place and I'm very proud of what we've achieved. Every year we endeavour to improve things even more so guests love the campsite as much as we do.”
Other Powys sites were also praised by judges picking up runner up spots.
This included Spring Rock Fishery and Caravan Park near Llandrindod Wells which was described as an “ideal destination” to “enjoy a spot of fishing, or with easy access to picturesque walks”.
Meadow Springs Country and Leisure Park which boasts “nearly 4 miles of walkways on the park” and is described as “the ideal place to relax and unwind”.
Gwerniago Camping Site near Machynlleth was praised for being “family and dog friendly, guests can enjoy peace and quiet with access to a wide range of walking routes”.
Wigwam Holidays Builth Wells which specialises in glamping also picked up a runner up spot and is described as a place to “settle down around the fire pit to toast some marshmallows, try a dip in a luxurious hot tub and take to the site's lake for both kayaking (with kayaks available to hire) and swimming.”
