A POWYS man who was handed the maximum amount of hours of community service the last time he appeared in court, will not have to complete the last 37, due to his ill health.

William Killick, 42, was disqualified from driving for just shy of 4 years last November, after witnesses described him as being “barely able to walk” in Knighton in July of 2023.

Killick, who had admitted both drink driving and driving while disqualified – offences he was jailed for in 2016 – was told previously by magistrates in Llandrindod Wells that his guilty pleas last year had spared him another jail sentence.

Killick, of Jubilee House, Knighton, had only been banned in May 2023 after an initial case of drink driving.

OTHER NEWS:

Magistrates heard previously that on July 30 last year he had been drinking since 8am and that three witnesses reported him to police, including one who’d seen him crash his Mitsubishi Shogun into another vehicle.

Killick’s name was back on the list at Llandrindod Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 5, but only so the probation service could apply to amend the requirements of his previous community order.

Probation officer Jade Price told the court the application was being made to amend the order, by removing the remaining 37 hours of the imposed 300 unpaid work hours, on the grounds that Killick, who was not present, cannot complete them due to health reasons.

Magistrates agreed to amend the order.
