A MAN has admitted stealing a car from the owners of a Powys couple he was working for while they slept upstairs, and taking it on a joyride.
Keiran Dixon, 21, knew where the spare keys to the couple’s house, in Crossgates, near Llandrindod Wells, were kept, as he and a friend had been working for them for a month.
In the early hours of November 11, 2023, Dixon, allegedly together with a friend, entered the home and took the keys for the couple’s Skoda Superb, before crashing and abandoning it.
Dixon, of Sefton Drive, Bury, entered guilty pleas to charges of burglary and aggravated vehicle taking when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 5.
Dixon’s case was sent to the crown court for sentencing due to its serious nature.

James Ashton, prosecuting, said: “The defendant and a co-accused had been conducting work for the owners of the property, outdoor work for them, for a month.
“On November 11 last year, the defendant re-attended the property, gaining entry via a spare key in a letterbox which they knew about, as they had been allowed entry to use the toilet.
“They took it on a joyride. They drove and were making doughnuts before crashing the vehicle into two parked vehicles. It was then abandoned in the Bury area.
“There was a 10-year-old child in the property at the time, and it was committed at night. The defendant admitted he was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.”
Magistrates sent Dixon’s case to Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, telling him the case was beyond their sentencing powers.
They ordered a pre-sentence report and told him to appear at Merthyr Crown Court on December 3.
He was handed an interim disqualification from driving.
