Firefighters have praised a “quick thinking” Powys resident after they used a fire blanket to put out a fire at their home, in a move that possibly saved the property from burning down.
Presteigne Fire Station reported on Wednesday evening, October 30, that they had attended a domestic fire at a property in the local area, where a fire blanket was used, and which helped confine the fire to the kitchen area.
“17P1, along with Knighton Fire Station, have just returned from a reported domestic fire in the local area,” Presteigne Fire Station posted on social media just after 8pm on Wednesday.
“Fortunately the quick thinking occupier used a fire blanket and prevented the incident escalating and confined the fire to the hob in the kitchen possibly saving the property.

“The occupier gave us permission to share a photo to show how effective the fire blanket was.
“Please remember to only use a fire blanket if safe to do so though and not to put yourself at risk.”
