Plans to build 11 new homes on land off the A483 in Llandrindod Wells have been withdrawn by developers.

The homes were proposed to be built opposite Heart Of Wales Business Park which would have been 11 new two, three and four-bedroom, single and two-storey dwellings; five detached and three pairs of semi-detached.

The developers claimed in a planning application to Powys County Council that the new buildings would “respect the character and appearance of its surroundings" and have an "acceptable level of visual impact".

The planning statement read: “It is also well related and complementary to the area, offering an appropriate level of development in keeping with surrounding and adjoining land uses.

“Furthermore, it will not appear incongruous or out of keeping, nor will it undermine any existing attractive views or vistas.

Llandrindod Wells Town Council did not back the scheme but said councillors “very much" supported affordable housing in the area.

However, it was agreed that the council could not support this as it was felt that the site is not suitable for development, despite the number of properties being reduced since pre-planning.

“There are concerns over the additional traffic onto the busy A483 and also the access and overnight parking of the wagon and drag vehicles accessing the site opposite.

“It was also felt that this development would require an extension to the new 20mph speed limit from the roundabout for a significant section past the road entrance to the brow of the hill.”
