Clerk to a Powys community council has picked up a national award for her excellent work.

St Harmon Community Council clerk Jane Johnston PSLCC has been honoured with a top national award from her professional body, the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC).

Representing clerks from over 5,000 town, parish, and community councils across England and Wales, SLCC awarded Jane the Heart of the Community Award at its National Conference last week.

"I am deeply honoured to receive the Heart of the Community Award. Serving and connecting with our community is what drives me,” said Jane.

“I am grateful for the recognition and proud to be part of a profession that makes such a meaningful impact in people's lives."

This new award recognises the invaluable contributions made by clerks to smaller parish and community councils, and celebrates those who through their tireless efforts, whether as a sole employee or as part of a smaller team, serve as the beating heart of their communities, embodying dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

Jane also works as clerk for Llandrindod Wells Town Council, Nantmel Community Council and Disserth & Trecoed Community Council.
