A Powys medical practice is holding an official opening ceremony for a new machine that they say will “greatly benefit” their patients.

Having installed a new MedPoint prescription dispensing machine earlier in the year, Llanfair Caereinion Medical Practice is planning on holding an official opening for the machine on Monday, November 11.

Prescription dispensing machines are designed to provide a safe, quick, and secure way for patients to collect their pre-ordered medication from the surgery of their choice at any time during the day.

Llanfair Caereinion Medical Practice’s dispenser was installed through donations made to the practice for the machine, with a spokesperson for the practise thanking those who made a donation.

Melissa Knight , practice manager, said: “The machine was bought by kind donations sent to the practice and we would like to say a big thank you to all who have kindly donated to the practice.

“We have already had lots of signups to the machine, and we hope this machine will greatly benefit our patients and continue to improve medication collection access to the practice.

“The machine allows patients to collect their medication 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is located at the front of the practice.”

The practice hopes the machine will “improve medication collection access” to the practice, which despite being a rural practice in Mid Wales, still dispenses thousands of prescriptions every week.

According to Llanfair Caereinion Medical Practice’s activity data for September, over 12,000 items were issued via prescription over the course of the month. In addition to the 1,007 face to face appointments and 2,908 calls to the practice that staff had to deal with.

OTHER NEWS:

“To collect your prescriptions from the machine, kindly fill out a sign-up form, either in person at the practice or via our website.

“Please note there are some exclusions for collecting from the machine, please ask our team for further details.

“We will also be hosting an official opening for the machine at the practice on Monday, November 11 at 1pm where we will be showing how the machine works and our practice MedPoint champion will be on hand to answer any questions you might have so please feel free to come along.”
