A former pub landlord died from "significant" head injuries after falling down a flight of concrete steps, an inquest has heard.
John Harries was 84 when he died at the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil almost a month after the accident.
The retired publican, who came from Aberdare but lived in Brecon, was well-known in the area as the former landlord and owner of the Three Horseshoes Inn, Llanfaes.
What happens at an inquest and what can the press report?
Reporting on inquests is one of the most difficult jobs faced by any journalist, but there are important reasons why local newspapers attend coroner’s court hearings and report on proceedings.
An inquest heard that his condition in hospital did not improve after he fell on June 30, and he continued to deteriorate before dying from the complications of his injuries on July 20.
Senior coroner Graeme Hughes concluded that Mr Harries' death was accidental at an inquest on October 14.
