THE winners of a photography competition, backed by Llanfyllin Town Council, have been announced for 2024.
The Ffilmic Competition, organised by Arts Connection and supported by the town council plus Llanfyllin Spar, with multiple category winners all shining in what were high-standard entries.
A spokesman for Arts Connection said they were delighted to not only attract a high-standard of entry but also to have judges with a professional background in photography.

The competition, heading towards nearly two decades after it was first established, also welcomed entries from people for an art competition, which were received well.

They said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Ffilmic Competition organised by Arts Connection and funded by the Llanfyllin Town Council and Llanfyllin Spar.
“This year was the 18th year of the annual Ffilmic Photography Competition, and it was joined for the third time by an Open Art competition.
“We had some fantastic entries and would like to thank everyone who entered.
“Our judges this year were professional photographers Jules Rogers and Ray Hall, and artist and photographer Tilly Weston, a student studying fine art at university and Lou Bass, photography teacher at Llanfyllin High School.
“The judges were really impressed by the level of skill and variety in all our entries, especially the photography branch. Our Open Art competition was also of a high standard.
“Thank you to Llanfyllin Town Council and Llanfyllin Spar for supporting us this year and to Capel Moriah, Llanfyllin for hosting the exhibition and the prize evening.
“We encourage you all to continue taking photos and creating artworks and we look forward to next year’s competition!”
In the pathways photography competition, first and second was taken by Cordelia Weedon with ‘Which Path to Take’ and ‘Pathway into the Past’, respectively, while third was Markus Gellesch&rsqu
In paranormal, Kate Hughes was first with ‘Nosy while second and third were Kal Bostock Lawton and Aimee Brayley, respectively.
In painting recreations, Cordelia won again with ‘Recreation of Gothic Architecture while Caecilie Gellech picked up second and third with her ‘Starry Night Van Gough’ and ‘Model Horses’.
In the under 18s sections, Kal Bostock Lawton won first and second and Owen Roberts came third and the Alun Evans Memorial Cup Winner was Kate Hughes.
In the open art competition, Mencap Film came first in the adults; Scarramuzza Pictures in 11-17 and Maiden in 5-10.
