A Brecon call centre has been transformed into a multi-agency hub.

The work on the building on Brecon Enterprise Park, which will now be known as Tŷ Brycheiniog, has been completed.

Bbi (Beacons Business Interiors) has finished the renovation for Powys County Council, which included a refurbishment of the second floor to create office space for council staff, with zero-carbon flooring and LED lighting, with intelligent controls.

The first floor was also reorganised to allow for multi-occupancy by different agencies and a passenger lift was installed.

This is part of a major project backed by £3.5 million in UK Government funding.

Powys County Council staff are likely to move from Neuadd Brycheiniog to Tŷ Brycheiniog’s second floor in early 2025, with other floors being used by partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Councillor Jake Berriman, the council’s cabinet member for a connected Powys, said: "This development has created a more practical, cost-effective building for the council to use in this part of the county, making our delivery of services more sustainable for future generations.

"It also helps us cut our carbon footprint."

Councillor David Selby, the council’s cabinet member for a more prosperous Powys, added: "The move to this new, more flexible working environment will help us maintain positive relationships with our partners and free up a much-needed development site in Brecon, at Neuadd Brycheiniog on Cambrian Way.

"I’ve also been informed that Bbi have been a pleasure to work with: well organised, good quality of workmanship and professional throughout."

The project created a job opportunity for an apprentice and saw Tŷ Brycheiniog used for site visits by carpentry students from NPTC Group’s Brecon Beacons College.

Stephen Price, director of Bbi, said: "We would like to extend our gratitude to Powys County Council for their partnership and support throughout this process.

"The positive collaboration played a significant role in the success of this project."
