Police have extended a dispersal order for another 48 hours in Newtown after reports of anti-social behaviour.

Officers have been given extra powers to deal with anyone, including youths, involved in anti-social behaviour in a large area of Newtown including the town centre, play and skate park, Treowen, New Road and Pool Road.

The second order, which started on Thursday (October 17) and ends at 5pm on Saturday (October 19), has been expanded to include the Newtown High School area.

It follows after a dispersal order was issued on Tuesday (October 15) which Dyfed-Powys Police has since said "positive action" had already taken place over the last 48 hours.

The dispersal order area is for the Newtown East ward, pictured in the map below in yellow.

"Police officers and PCSOs will be able to instruct anybody who is causing or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to leave the area," Dyfed-Powys Police said.

"They will also have the power to seize any property which officers suspect is being used to cause anti-social behaviour."
