Metal sheets costing around £2,300 have been put in place to cover the Grade II-listed ruins of St Mary’s Church to prevent further vandalism.
There have been problems with vandalism at the church located behind The Elephant and Castle Hotel while stonework repairs were being done.

Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council said: “Following consultation with contractors, CADW and a local architect, metal sheets have been installed around the perimeter to ensure long-term protection of the listed building.
“This anti-vandalism work has incurred an additional cost of around £2,300 paid for by the Newtown council taxpayer.”
