An iconic hotel in Brecon is set to undergo a £3 million transformation.

The Castle of Brecon Hotel will temporarily close this winter to allow for a major refurbishment.

The hotel will then reopen in spring 2025.

The renovation, which is part of the Coaching Inn Group's mission to revitalise historic inns, began on October 20.

It will see all rooms, the restaurant, the bar, and public areas fully renovated.

The Coaching Inn Group is an award-winning organisation known for its commitment to refurbishing historic inns, and the Castle of Brecon Hotel is the latest in their project pipeline.

It is built within the remains of Brecon Castle and is already a popular hotel and wedding venue.

Once the work is complete, the hotel will continue to offer a restaurant, bar, and function spaces, all with riverside views and glimpses of the Brecon Beacons.

The Coaching Inn Group’s chief operating officer, Adam Charity, said: "This is an exciting new chapter for the iconic and historic Castle of Brecon Hotel.

"Brecon is a truly beautiful part of Wales, with a rich history and sense of community.

"This refurbishment will be a complete transformation throughout the property, complimented by a new offer with a local touch.

"We cannot wait to welcome locals, and guests from further afield, to showcase the changes we will be bringing to this stunning property."

More details about the renovation will be revealed in 2025.
