Fire crews had to assist removing 3-4 inches of sewage and flood water from a Powys property.
Multiple fire crews were called out to Lower Chapel near Brecon after a large amount of flood water and sewage entered a property – which saw one person also being rescued from the first floor and treated by ambulance teams.
Crews from Brecon, Builth Wells and Talgarth were all called to the scene where they found the property “had approximately 3-4 inches of flood water and sewage”.

It took crews at the scene several hours to pump the water out of the property.
At the same time the Welsh Ambulance Service were also called to the scene where they helped recover a casualty from the first floor.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 5:39pm on Wednesday 16th October, crews from Brecon, Builth Wells and Talgarth were called to an internal flooding incident at Lower Chapel, Brecon.
“On arrival, the property had approximately 3-4 inches of flood water and sewage. Crews removed this using an ejector pump, light portable pump and lighting.
“Welsh Ambulance Services Trust were called to assist with removing one casualty from the first floor of the property.
“Crews left the scene at 7:35pm.”
Other incidents
Elsewhere, fire crews were called to a number of incidents across Powys.
- A property in Bronybuckley Street in Welshpool was flooded at 11.38am, with a salvage sheet placed in the footpath in front of the property.
- The Talgarth crew was called out to Bronllys at 3.54pm where there was a "vast amount of water" affecting Bronllys Garage and other properties. They checked the culverts before leaving at 4.34pm.
- At 4.02pm they were at the Felin Fach Griffin Inn near Brecon, and had to unblock an external drain on the road of the property and pump out water that was entering the pub. Brecon Town Council was asked to bring sandbags, but crews remained at the scene until 8.43pm.
- At 5.39pm, fire crews were called to the Old Post Office in Felinfach, where they had to pump six inches water out of the ground floor, staying until 8.26pm.
- Crews were called to the Drovers Arms in Howey at 6.31pm, using pumps to remove water from the flooded basement.
- At 8.22pm, crews were called to pump out water from two businesses in Oxford Road in Hay. They stayed at the scene until 11.18pm pumping a "large quantity of water" away.
