Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed crews from Knighton and Presteigne were called out yesterday evening (October 16) to rescue a person in distress after the vehicle they were in was caught in deep water.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7:23pm on Wednesday 16th October, crews from Presteigne and Knighton were called to an incident in Presteigne.
“One person was recovered by crews from a vehicle that was deep in water due to flooding. Crews used one water rescue kit and a rescue sled.
“Crews left the scene at 8:59pm.”
This was one of many incidents fire crews were called to yesterday with Knighton fire crew reporting they attended 10 incidents last night alone.
In a post online the Fire Station said: “Yesterday and into the early hours of this morning we attended 10 water related incidents. These were in and around our area, assisted by colleagues from both neighbouring brigades.
“Some of these calls involved rescues of people from vehicles stuck in flood water, please be careful where you are going today, there is lots of standing water around and it is probably deeper than it looks.”
