Welshpool Airport is closed for the day after torrential rain cut off access for planes.
Welshpool Airport has confirmed it will not be open today after heavy downpours yesterday (October 16) left the runway submerged.
The Airport shared a photo on its social media showing the runway under a large amount of water which will halt aircraft coming to the site today.
Meanwhile, the A490 at Coed-y-Dinas, popularly known as the airport road, is flooded and closed today. It is often one of the first roads to fall victim to rising water levels.
In an update on social media Welshpool Airport said: “Runway closed to fixed wing & only home-based helicopters expected to be operating today.”
This was one of many areas of Powys affected by yesterday's bad weather with multiple schools being closed and chaos on the local roads.
