The organisations were called out in the late afternoon to the site with both rescue teams having to split their staff while they dealt with other incidents.
The Brecon Mountain Rescue team said that when their staff arrived at the scene they had discovered the 80 year old man “had fallen whilst descending Pen y Fan and sustained facial and shoulder injury”.
In a statement online, a spokesperson for the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team said: “Soon after 4pm we were called by our Brecon Mountain Rescue Team colleagues who already had an incident ongoing and our assistance was requested to help with an injured walker who’d fallen on the path while making his way down from the summit of Pen Y Fan.
“Working seamlessly with our Brecon Team colleagues and paramedics from Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust, we treated his ribs and head injuries, then carried him by stretcher off the mountain to Pont ar Daf car park and the awaiting WAST ambulance.”
