A new mosaic project has brought together pupils at Newbridge on Wye Church in Wales School.

The project, funded by the Diocesan Funding Committee on behalf of the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon, engaged all learners to explore the school's Christian values and create a visual representation.

Children in all classes collaborated with glasswork artist Jody McPartlin of Stonefield Glass to design and make the mosaic, which was unveiled at a recent well-being open evening.

The project also saw the involvement of village vicar, Reverend Lance Sharpe.

The after-school event featured singing, toasting marshmallows, and drinking hot chocolate in the school's woodland area, as well as badge making, rice Krispie hedgehogs, and refreshments.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the school's approach to health and well-being as a key area of learning and experience.

Headteacher Samantha Williams welcomed current and prospective parents, as well as members of the wider community, to experience the school environment.

Miss Williams said: "We are really excited to welcome the community into our school to show what we can achieve together, we also encourage visits from families."

The event served as an opportunity for everyone to come together, meet staff, and explore the school’s values in action.

The primary school admission round for Powys learners born between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2021, opened on October 1, 2024, with the closing date for applications on January 6, 2025.
